Headline (page title)

To enter or change the headline (title) on a page, click on the 'headline' area of the page. You can now type in a new headline or alter the text already there. Click elsewhere on the page when you are finished and the page will be redrawn with your new headline in place.

The font, size, colour and alignment used for the headline is set by the currently chosen style and cannot be amended. The software will use the title you enter here as the name for the page on the Designer display.

Button labels (section names)

You can click on a button label to alter the text there in a similar way to headlines. Click elsewhere on the page to save your changes away. As with headlines, the type font, size and colour are predetermined by the style you have chosen and you may need to choose your wording carefully to create a label that fits neatly in the available space.

The button names are effectively the names of each section in your presentation (the last one being the 'Quit' or 'Exit' button) and the Designer display automatically changes to show your new name for each section.

Text

Almost all page layouts have one or more areas for your main text or for captions or sidebar text to be typed in. Again, text is entered or changed by clicking on it. As well as presenting the text for editing, this will also show a text toolbar with controls for formatting the text to suit. Click the 'Done' button (or elsewhere on the page) when you have finished editing and formatting the text.

The text toolbar provides a basic range of formatting options for the text your are editing. To format a particular word or phrase, drag the mouse over the text to select it and then click on the relevant icon on the text toolbar. The toolbar options are:

The text toolbar also has a 'Reset' button. This reformats all the text in the suggested font, colour and size for the currently chosen style. You can use this to reset text formatting if you change styles part way through a project or just if you want to clear formatting you have applied.

The 'Cancel' button can be used to abandon your changes to text or formatting.

Tabs and tables

The Tab key (above Caps Lock) can be used to space out text to make columns or simple tables. The tab stops are in fixed positions but you can, if necessary, create wider columns by using two or three tabs in sequence to align your text.

Using typefaces

The text toolbar gives you access to six common Windows typefaces rather than the full set of typefaces that might be installed on your PC. This is because CDR Presenter's projects do not carry fonts within them and there is therefore no guarantee that a font available on your computer will be present on the PC or PCs that your finished presentation may be run on. By restricting your choice to six common typefaces, there is a good chance that your presentations will appear as intended on other user's PCs when run. On occasions where a user's PCs does not have one of the typefaces you've used, the presentation will still run but a different typeface will be substituted for your choice.
