 It's been a few years since we've had a headline-grabbing virus story, like the Sasser or My Doom outbreaks that caused chaos around the world. But don't be fooled: this isn't actually good news. The people behind PC malware have realised that it's better not to gain attention, and so developed trojans and bots that are far more stealthy and difficult to spot. Unless, that is, you've protected your system by installing something like Ashampoo AntiVirus 1.5.
Install the program, reboot and it immediately goes to work, monitoring files you access or download and comparing them to the signatures of over 470,000 viruses, worms, trojans and dialers. The database is updated multiple times a day, and checks for new signatures can be made every hour.

You're also able to schedule up to 8 of these operations to run at the time of your choice, and integrate a "Scan" option in the Explorer right-click menu for handy on-demand checking. There are plenty of other useful configuration options, too, so be sure to check the Preferences dialog once the program is installed.
