Zusammenfassung
AutoYaST is a system for auto-installing and configuring Linux without user interaction. AutoYaST is fully integrated in the SuSE Linux installer YaST2 and is available on SuSE Linux since 8.0. Unlike previous systems, AutoYaST configurations are XML based and the configuration is fully compatible with configuration modules in YaST2. The talk will cover history and development of auto-installation with Linux in general and SuSE Linux in particular and continue with the implemetation and internals of AutoYaST and how it is integrated in YaST2. Emphasis will be placed on network based auto-installations in hetrogenous computing environments with scenarios and possible solutions using auto-installation. Additionaly, advanced features like classes support and rules based installations will be explored and put into practical examples. The XML based profile controlling the auto-installation process and further technologies used for manipulating profiles (XSLT, YaST2's own interpreter etc. ) will be explained and demonstrated.
The intended audience is technical and range from the experienced linux user to the corporate system administrator. The talk will be of special interest for those envolved in computing environments with several Linux systems.
