Name: - the name of ftp server that appears within your mFTP
hotlist. This can be any name, anything rememberable. For instance, if you were
creating an entry for Aminet UK you could simply call this 'Aminet UK'.
Address: - the actual remote server address. You do not need to
enter 'ftp://' before the server name, as mFTP will always assume that you are
connecting to an ftp server.
Port # - the port name of the remote ftp server. Mostly you can
leave this 'as is' (the default is set to 21), but specific ftp sites may require a particular port number,
normally in rare circumstances.
Username: - if the ftp server requires you to log on with a
username and password, in order to authorise entry, you will be required to
enter the username in this box. Some ftp servers are closed access. This means
that they are only open to password holders. In order to determine whether the
person connecting to the ftp server is an 'authorised user', the ftp server
manager will set a user/password for entry.
See 'anonymous' for further information.
Password: - this is where you would enter the password to obtain
access to closed ftp sites.
Anonymous: - most ftp sites require or use an 'anonymous' login
procedure in order to allow access to their server. This means they do not
require a specific username nor password for entry. Tick the anonymous option
and leave the username and password boxes empty.
Note that anonymous login requires an email address for login. This email
address should be entered within the global mFTP preferences.
ADT server - if the remote ftp server has an ADT server you can
enable this option. ADT (Aminet Download Tool) is a special system that allows
you to logon to a server (nearly always the Aminet, hence the name ADT) and
download a list of recently uploaded files (normally called the 'RECENT' list).
This allows quick perusal of recently uploaded Aminet files.
