NEW DOS EXTENDER FOR CA-CLIPPER ANNOUNCED

DALLAS, TEXAS - An unprecedented collaboration between third party
developers SofDesign International, Inc., Dallas, TX and ObjecTech, Inc.,
Glen Rock, NJ has resulted in ExoSpace(tm), the first DOS extender for
CA-Clipper applications. The powerful new product frees CA-Clipper
applications from the DOS 640K limitation.

According to ExoSpace representative Jon Cole, the new product is
designed to enhance the performance and viability of CA-Clipper by
increasing addressable memory from 640K to 16 megabytes. It accomplishes
this by running the application in protected mode, giving CA-Clipper
direct access to extended memory. This reduces or eliminates the need for
virtual memory swapping. In addition, applications run with less than
256K of free DOS memory, solving low memory problems caused by network
shells, terminal emulators, or other resident programs.

Users of large applications, networks, or third party products
realize the greatest benefits, noted Cole. ExoSpace increases overall
performance while eliminating nearly all memory problems. Users are able
to create significantly larger applications than previously possible with
CA-Clipper. Most existing applications require no coding changes.

ExoSpace includes a protected mode linker which allows all code and
data to be overlaid, but only if necessary. When enough memory is
available, the entire application and all program data can reside in
memory. ExoSpace can be used on computers with an 80286 or higher
microprocessor and a minimum of 2 megabytes of RAM. Because applications
run in protected mode, obscure bugs in C and Assembler code are easier for
third party developers to find and eliminate.

Both SofDesign International and ObjecTech have extensive experience
with developing successful CA-Clipper add-on products. Other SofDesign
products include ProVision:Windows, ProVision:Backup, OverLay(), and
ProClip. ObjecTech's award- winning product, Class(y), is an
  object-oriented extension for CA-Clipper.
