TROUBLESHOOTING
(POTENTIAL PROBLEMS AND THEIR SOLUTIONS)

Here are a few common problems and their solutions/workarounds. You should also look in the General Questions and Answers section of this document. If you have a problem not listed here, please first look on the Inspire Graphics web page (www.inspiregraphics.com), which is continuously updated, for further help. If you cannot find the appropriate information, please contact Inspire Graphics via fax or e-mail.

PROBLEM: The colors of the images look strange or are only being partially displayed.
SOLUTION:
It could be that your screen resolution is set to 256 colors or lower. To improve the colors of your computer screen, go to Start, Settings, Control Panel and double-click Display. Click the Settings tab and change the color palette to the True Color setting or above.

Also, reducing your Hardware Acceleration decreases the load on your video hardware and often fixes some graphics display problems. To decrease the Hardware Acceleration go to Start, Settings, Control Panel and open the System icon. Click the Performance tab (Troubleshooting tab in Windows 2000 or XP), then Graphics and move the slider to a lower setting (or None). You will need to restart your computer for the new settings to take effect.

PROBLEM: When pasting an image into my word processor, an error message occurs saying that I have exceeded the maximum page size (or a similar message).
SOLUTION: Some programs have difficulty retrieving lengthy lines of colored text from the Windows Clipboard. The easiest way to avoid the problem is to shorten the length of your text. You may have to type and copy two separate lines of text (one line at a time) and piece them together in your word processor. If that does not work, try saving the image as a WMF file and retrieving/importing it into your word processor.

PROBLEM: When pasting into my word-processor, the size of the image is too large, is distorted, or is unable to be sized or otherwise edited.
SOLUTIONS:
1. SELECT EDIT, PASTE SPECIAL. This allows your word-processor to paste the image more accurately and bring it in at a more manageable size. You may be offered more than one image selection option to choose from after using Paste Special. Try each to get the best results.
2. COPY FROM WORDPAD. Try opening WordPad (found under Start, Programs, Accessories) and pasting the image into a blank document (use Edit, Paste). Once the image has been pasted, copy that same image (Edit, Copy) and then paste it into your desktop-publishing or word-processing program.
3. SAVE THE IMAGE
.
4. RESIZE THE IMAGE.

PROBLEM: My fonts appear and print distorted or too small.
SOLUTION: Some fonts were not created to be body text (the text you would use in a letter, for example) and will therefore appear blurry or unclear if printed too small. Also, your font may appear blurry on the computer screen but prints fine. In many cases, your monitor cannot display fonts as well as your printer prints them.

PROBLEM: When I view the page samples, a blue box sometimes appears in places where no sample selection is showing.
SOLUTION: When you switch page sample categories, the selection box will remain in the same place it was before you switched. If no page sample is showing in the place where the selection box is still located, it will display a blue box, indicating that no selection exists in that spot.
