McDonald's cannot dictate its contract suppliers' labor practices. I agree that
they need to contract with a supplier in a country where such abusive practices
don't happen, preferably here in the States. But hey, this is not my fault or Cara's. No major corporation is a saint, and we
all need to be paid somehow. Furthermore, the vast majority of toys made today are
manufactured in China. Are you going to force your kid to do without toys and shoes
because of this? Also, Japan, Inc. is following our lead. In recent years, I've seen
numerous Panasonics, Sonys', and Sanyos with "Made in Korea/Taiwan/China" labels on
them. So much for Japan being the Corporate Conscience!!!
Before I close this, Corporate America and we citizens need to push for sensible legislation
that will make it easier and inexpensive again for manufacturing to return here. Not that I'm
justifying moving or contracting where the cheap labor is. They had a chance to put a stop to
the constraining bullshit red tape, ridiculous taxes, and excessive regulations to start with!!!
None.
