This message is for anyone who is in my stituation, that is having
been wrongfully fired from a McDonald's restaurant eventhough you
went out of your way to be a good employee and the real reason was
that you rubbed someone the wrong way.I worked for McDonald's twice, from 1988-1990, and from 1994-late 95', the second time I
worked for McDonald's, I was made to endure racist comments from the
store manager (whom I worked for the first time at a diffrent store)
he also was editting payroll before it was transmitted for printing
to cut labour costs and ensure no over-time was paid. The crew at
our store eventually approached me, since I worked with him before
and asked me to press our complaints on their behalf. This didn't
work so I created a petition which approx. 70% of the employees
signed, I would have got more, but the head manager got wind of it
and was threatening to fire anyone who signed it. Then I sent it
to McDonald's of Canada in Toronto to the PAL office (human resources)
and after about 4 months they transfered him to another store. Before
they transfered him, the area supervisor told me that I had
"too much influence" for a crew member and that if I did not cooperate
with the new store manager they would "find a way to get rid of me" well
guess what, 5 months later, totally out of the blue, I came into
work and was told that I couldn't work my shift, and that I had to see the
area supervisor the next day. I knew then that they were getting rid
of me and I was right, the flimsy excuse they used when firing
at head office (they didn't want anyone to know) is that some
employees were "afraid of me" and that if I didn't quit they would fire me.
they also had my locker searched by the police (in hopes of finding
something to justify their actions) and then banned me from all
McDonald's in Canada. I am now filing a lawsuit for wrongfull
dismissal against them, my lawyer would like to file a class action
lawsuit if we can find enough people who have been terminated wrongfully
if you are in this boat please email at ru@mars.execulink.com and
maybe we can all see justice served.Ronjon Sircar
