Cara, I agree with you! No system is perfect, but capitalism beats
everything else. You're always going to have people or organizations
who will abuse any kind of benefit, or system for their own gain, and
capitalism is no exception. But the corporations, small, and medium
businesses who work hard to earn their money, and provide quality
products and service for their customers should be praised, and not jeered.
One point you might add for all those cynics like Ted below is that profit
IS necessary. Profit is the metaphoric boat or raft to any business. And
many businesses and corporations go through lean periods at one time or
another. If you have enough money in reserves, you can stay afloat through
those not-so-great months. You can still meet your overhead and pay your
staff. And lest we forget, the necessary r & d to bring new products
to market also cost money (Ted and Siamak, are you listening?).
Well, to close this post, best wishes for you and the owners of your
McD's. Mike.

P.S. Debbie, a Corporate employee who posts in these rooms regularly
is right. That hamburger meat is just about the leanest I've seen.
