I am an ex- McDonalds shift leader.
As one consume burgers, unknowingly one consumes people...
One can not make a "career" at McDonalds unless one is willing to abandon one's
ethics.
I cried, uncontrollably, while I was counting inventory about 1:30+am as it
dawned on me that this management was abusive and hope for reform was futile."Free" long distance calls were encouraged for corporate communications.
Managers were aware of AT&T's trusting policy pertaining to credit card calls.
Rich Saroyan boasted how he would place "free" calling card calls by making-up a
random number for the calling card."Undesireable" employees of high-school age, would be assigned on four hour
shift on Saturday evening, despite written records stating their unavailability
at that time, then fired they did not appear for work.Marylin was fired on the spot when Mike observed her withdrawing five dollars
from the cash drawer to which she was assigned.
Marylin was elderly and "slow", but I happily gave her more free drinks for
having her cash drawer balance within fifty cents and more free meals for having
her cash drawer balance exactly than all other empoyees combined. Her sales
rate was slightly above average.
Marylin had a great heart and was an inspiration to us all with her gracious
manner.
Yet, her inability or resistence to learning the skills of cookking over the
dangerous gas fired grill and her general lack of "hustle" made her
"undesireable".
Marylin had no safe place to put her money: the uniform trousers which were
assigned to females had no pockets, for pocket lines would interfere with the
aesthetics of their body's natural curves, plus there were no lockable lockers
available.
Marylin had no other safe place for her money, and so placed her five dollar
bill behind the cash drawer, separate from the company's cash.
If Mike was authentic about investigating Marylin's integrity, he would have
counted the cash drawer on the spot. I suspect that he would have had to
issue Marylin a free meal for a precisely accounted drawer.
Where are the good lawyers when one needs them? Marylin was justly fired. In San Diego Big Macs were priced at just 89 cents.
That is probably less than the components cost in other countries.Sixteen years ago "food" profit margins were 40-60%
while the profit margin on soda was 90-95%.If there is an interest, I will provide furthur details, and a broadened set of
stories,
like my personal legal experiences...
None.
