The "waste" that that nugget was about to become is important for the manager to determine correct shift volume etc.
Wake up little boy and face the facts - the employees who were "robbed" of meal breaks had a right to complain and take action and they have elected not to exercise that right. Maccas had their own rights over the nugget issue but they choose to do something about it rather that crying over a keyboard.
The kid was their to do a job and he didn't do it. Everyone's told the rules upon joining the team and know the consequences for failing to comply.
