Leon Trotsky asked many years ago "Where do morals come from"? I think in your case you must ask yourself where do your morals come from and more importantly, who benefits from them?

As regards to which is the best way forward for increasing the rights of McDonalds' workers, I agree and I think I've already said so, that unionisation and industrial action are such.

However when it comes to the crunch and a worker steals a lousy Chicken McNugget off a billion dollar corporation, support MUST be given to the worker vis-a-vis the company. How one can invoke morality as the reason for doing otherwise, is beyond comprehension. Yes McDonald's and morality is an 'oxymoron'.

To understand why rules and laws come into being, and why they remain so, one does have to look much further than who made the laws and when they were first enacted. The legal system, the police, the law courts, the army, all came into being to defend the status quo and the interests of private property from any threats.

If we ever hope to see any decent society whatsoever, we're going to have to abandon any moralistic sentiments which only serve to reinforce and maintain existing class relations. Forget what the bible, or the law, or what your primary school teacher, or the media says is right or wrong, and decide for yourself if supporting the ruling class over the worker is a step forward.
