Recently in Australia there was an unfair dismissal case of a man
who had worked for a Company for 20 odd years. The man was dismissed
for being late on a few occasions. The Court ruled that there was
no valid reason for the Company to fire him and ordered his
reinstatement to the job. The case was complicated somewhat
when the man was diagnosed with Cancer after he was dismissed.
He was going to die. The Drs said that he only had months left.
Because he had been sacked he could not access his superannuation
and it looked like his family was not going to be provided for
after his death by the superannuation "death benefit". It was put to the
Company by the worker's Union to reinstate the man as he was dying
anyway just so that he could access his superannuation.
THE COMPANY REFUSED!!! SUCH COMPASSION!!! The worker spent the
last months of his life pursuing his unfair dismissal case.
The judgement was delivered...he was reinstated because the
Company had no valid reason to dismiss this worker who had
slaved for them for 20 odd years ...he died the
day the judgement was handed down! The Company was QANTASProfits and "face" overode human decency. PATHETIC!!
