Procter & Gamble buy up the net?

I saw a series of posts on one of the newsgroups which gave a
huge list of domain names which ha apparently been registered
by Procter & Gamble. There was some people saying that it was
a hoax, any know if it is true?

If it is true, can't anything be done about it?
The list contained hunddreds of names, surely big
companies like Procter & Gamble can't be allowed to buy
up all the good names.
