that message that states Ray Kroc is a Crock is NOT my message, I filled in the top to write a comment and didn't realize I was substituting my name for the person that early said Ray was a Crock. If there is any you can get my name off that statement it would be appreciated. ANYWAY here is what I wanted to comment. If someone wants to obtain material on how Ray Kroc found McDonald's they can write to the Sterling Historical Society, 1005 3rd Street, Sterling, Illinois 61081 The reason these early records are in that town is that Ray Kroc in 1953 was the President of the Sales Divison of PRINCE CASTLE of Sterling, Illinois. Bill Jamison who the rep in California ran across the McDonald brothers in Calfornia and reported back to Illinois what he had found. On Apri 2, 1953, Ray sent a letter to Earl Prince owner of Prince Ice Cream Castles, who had their corporate office in sterling Illinois. Ray encourage Prince to meet Jamison in California and to look at what the McDonald brothers had accompolishe. By that time the McDonald Borthers had quite a few resturants operating. Well Earl, Ray, and the secretary and Treasurer of Prince Castle (Edward Cornils) went to California to check out the McDonald operation. To make a long story short Earl Prince was happy with his Prince Castles which by that time were around 40 or so locations and wasn't intered in the new idea. . Ray continued to see an opportunity and went to New York to obtaining financing so that within a few months of the visit that the 3 of them made to California, Ray opened the first McDonald's in a NW Chicago Suburb. A few years Ray bought out the McDonald name. So RAY KROC IS NOT A CROCK. He saw an opportunity and purseud the opportunity even after the owner of the company he represented, Earl Prince, decided not to follow up.
