: : I have not used the internet much before, I do not have a computer but i am writing this in a computer shop in Bankstown sydney, Australia but i would like to say that it is unfair that Mc donalds only seems to want to hire 15 year olds and when the 15 year olds get older they don't recieve many shifts, of course i can't comment on every store but this is true in the store my brother works in, I also think take away hamburgers taste better than maccas because they have real onions, not dehydrated rubbish !: John, your assumption is completely untrue and unfounded. McDonald's recruits and hires anyone who is reliable, honest, cooperative, friendly, and productive; age is never a factor. What basis do you have for making such a comment?
Dee, check
the evidence. I'll summarize it here just to emphasise the point:
32% of McDonald's workforce are under 18.
75% of McDonald's workforce are under 21.
If that isn't a bias, what is?
McDonald's aim for the "first job" market quite consciously, knowing that the average rates of pay for such workers is lower than the average - allowing them to save on staff costs.
In America, the McMasters program has also been introduced to enlist the over-50's, as they are found to be no more difficult to work with than teenagers, meaning that 10% of the American staff are over 50. Yet there is a disproportionately large trough in workers aged between 21 and 50 - the 'prime working years', which could well be due to public perception of conditions at McD's, or could simply be due to the awful wages.
Please try to verify your categorical statements with a few shreds of evidence, as it would make your case a lot stronger.
Gideon.
