: Eating meat causes many forms of cancer--particularly prostate and breast cancer--mostly due to the excess fat intake. There is excellent data on this, and yes, I am a doctor. So if you want to continue eating large quantities of meat--fine, but remember, I will be paying for part of your cardiac bypass surgery, even if you have health insurance.

I don't argue with you that this is the case, BUT, who's to say there is a saving to the taxpayers of society from people such as yourself with a vegeatarian diet. According to your previous messages, they have a longer health expectancy, and therefore will be living on welfare for longer, as opposed to meat eaters who will supposedly die earlier into their retirement. Even if the costs of treating the meat-eaters' cancer or whatever is high, surely the costs of treating vegetarians will be at least as great a burden, since there will be a greater proportion that survive to old age, and their other health costs will probably increase as they get older.

My favourite foods happen to be meat, and, although I frequently eat vegetarian dishes and try new things, nothing has been as satisfying, and I do not find the moral or health arguments strong enough to give it up. This is just my opinion, however, I do not aim to convince anyone to change their eating habits from what they enjoy.
