Whoa---hold it now. I never heard of Anthony Robbins and no, I
don't believe that anybody can do anything. That's ridiculous.
Nor did I say that I don't believe in the "freedom to strike."
In fact, I didn't object to the UPS strike at all, and supported
the workers on this, although I have some fears that their
settlement might kick up inflation, and that's of no benefit
to anyone.

I knew poverty just like "workers." But I see the issues more
widely than you do, I think. Power (translate money) is the
bottom line. In the work place everyone needs to equip themselves
with as much power as they can get. Education and flexibiity
are the keys to that power. But even then, there are limits.

The richest man in the world, Bill Gates, still lives "in
fear" of the FTC (Federal Trade Commission). They are still
in power over his business, and none of his billions can
change that one iota. I would give a few bucks to be
in the room with him when the FTC is mentioned. I probably
couldn't publish his (obscene)comments on this talk group, could I?

In order to get power, you need education and a skill.
In order to achieve flexibility you need to be able to
make changes, go to different geographic locations,
keep your skills updated, and get certified in your
field, if it is offered. You need to be able to think
globally and be willing to change occupations if necessary.

All this is terribly difficult if you have a family
settled with kids, a mortgage and a house that won't
sell. The criticism I have toward the free market is
that it is NOT family oriented at all. That's just
reality. I am amused however at conservatives who
"espouse" family values, when the very economy
they revere is very much against family values.

That having been said, I still think that a free
economy is the best way to go, mainly because it
is impossible to control any economy, even with
fractal mathematics--because it is just too complex.
