Eggs less alive than a carrot?

I don't eat meat either but have to point out that your battery egg is less alive then a grain or rice or a carrot. The mother never got laid and the egg is just the end product of the unsucessful reproductive cycle. You might as well call a woman's period an unborn baby. Poor hens.
The original macrobiotic teaching was to only eat fertilized eggs since the others were not a living food, and to eat them occasionally, and preferably not at all.
