Women will be fighting for a while yet

Firstly you've taken my final comment out of context, because it went with the whole message rebutting 'anon's' message blaming women for there being fewer men than women in the animal rights movement, but giving no explanation whatsoever of why this is supposed to be the fault of women. I gave my explanation of why it's NOT women's fault in my last posting, and it was in that context that I was saying don't blame men's problems on women.

Secondly there is in any event a big difference between the two statements because it is a fact that in western society today women are oppressed by men, and not the other way round. Therefore there are lots of 'women's problems' that can fairly be blamed on men. And before anyone jumps down my throat I am not saying here that all men oppress all women. Still though, all men should look and think about their behaviour towards women, because unless you do you may just not notice that you're taking someone for granted or that you're intimidating them or whatever.

Women and men are not identical, but right now they're not equal either, and that is what feminism set out to remedy. I've never read anything from the feminist movement that said women and men are identical, so I don't know where you got that idea from. I don't actually agree with every single statement that has ever come out of the feminist movement (well the one's i've read anyway), and generally I don't call myself a feminist, but to suggest that women have now reached equality with men, and no longer need to fight on this issue, is just pie in the sky.

> 2)That women are not supermen, nor are they intrinisically better than men

Never said they were. I think it's generally men who consider themselves (for some unknown reason) intrinsically better than women isn't it?

My heart bleeds for you. I have been unbelievably irritated for years by men who assume that i and other women are not capable of driving, or of lifting weights or doing plumbing, carpentry, bricklaying, mechanics, whatever. Or who assume that i'd like to do their washing, cleaning and tidying for them. Or that i'd like to have my bum pinched while i'm walking down the street or socialising in a pub. Or who assume i've no political views and ideas of my own, that i just want to follow their lead. The list is varied and endless, and it continues to this day.

There have been improvements - long fought for by women (and some men), but there's still a long way to go, so tough mate, women are going to be complaining and fighting for a while yet so you're gonna have to get used to it.

It's a shame you can't try being a woman for a while, then you might have something real to complain about.
