Not to open a big can of worms, but...

Do animals have ethics?

While I have a great deal of respect for vegans, and I think there are some valid health reasons to reduce your meat intake, the idea that killing animals for food is unethical bugs me.

Yes, slaughterhouses are horrific, but anyone who's watched a National Geographic Special can tell you how pleasant it is to watch a lion tearing out a gazelle's throat. That lion would just as soon do the same to you, whether you were vegetarian or not. That's called the "food chain," folks, and like it or not, humans are omnivores. That means we can eat damn near anything. Those sharp, pointy teeth we all have toward the front of our mouths are called incisors, and they ain't there to help you munch alfalfa sprouts. Humans are evolved to include meat in their diet, and have urges just like any other species.

Once again, let me reiterate my respect and admiration for vegans, but please don't try to make me feel like Charles Manson the next time I ask for meat sauce on my spaghetti.
