June 12, 1991 will always be remembered in Manila as the Independence Day that "snowed." It was on this day that Mt. Pinatubo erupted causing ashes and volcanic debris to be spread as far as Manila. The explosion of the volcano forever changed the landscape of Pampanga, converting a once fertile region into a sea of pyroclastic flow; tentatively disrupting the idyllic and rural life of the people living close to the volcano.
