This also symbolizes the relationship between Miyagi prefecture, Sendai, and the World as well as the ties between the Japanese and people from abroad. The form of the heart, flowing and enveloping the earth, alludes to the organic connection between countries and the dynamic flow of internationalization as we move into the future. Red expresses the warmth of the heart, its vitality and energy while green signifies Miyagi prefecture's natural resources and a verdant Sendai.
The Character's NameThe countries of the world, the bond between people, and ardent cultural exchange. The GLOBAL VISIONS EXPO. '97 is the futuristic base for the transmission and flow of information. Papitto is the character who will play an active role in the Expo. Papitto's name is a combination of the consonants in Japanese (pa and pi) that implies quickness and instantaneous motion. Papitto will jump energetically around our wide globe and facilitate communication and the flow of information. The character sports cute wings and an antenna that will enable it to catch the future.
