The atomic bomb was detonated at 8:15 a.m. on August 6, 1945, approximately 150 m southeast
of the A-bomb dome at an altitude of about 580 m.
The building sustained major damage, its interior was completely burned and all 30 persons who
were in the building at that time died. In 1967 the dome was declared a symbol that
should remind the people of the world of the terrible disaster. At that time of the A-bomb dome construction work for
permanent preservation were carried out. |
