The tea ceremony is a cultural practice unique to Japan. It involves making and serving powdered green tea to invited guests. In this way, people refine their manners and enrich their spirits.A number of pieces of equipment used for the tea ceremony have been placed in the time capsule, and the one in the photograph was used for tea ceremony performed outdoors, a type known as Nodate.It would probably take an entire book to describe the prescribed method of using the 11 pieces of tea ceremony equipment: tea bowls, bamboo spoons,cloths, etc. For this reason, a booklet called "Enjoying the Tea Ceremony" has been placed inside the time capsule.
