The miniature TV in the photo was manufactured using all the latest technologies of the 1970s. Its main components were almost all newly developed, including the tube and IC.
Touted as the world's smallest TV, the set has a screen measuring 38 mm diagonally, which is rather tiny. It cannot claim to be of much practical value, but it is an important item in that it represents the epitome of technology at that time.
From EXPO '70 onwards, Japan's technological strength in components began to gather wide esteem, and has continued to do so to this day. Japan's clear superiority in technologies relating to micromachines, optoelectronics and other fields is now recognized around the world.
