Used to restore the face to normal appearance after the loss of an eye following an injury. Generally made of plastic or glass. Probably, the artificial eye was placed in the time capsule in anticipation that it would eventually become obsolete as a prosthetic device. People back then may have looked forward to a "man-made eyeball" to replace the artificial eye, or to advances that would restore eyesight even after an injury. Perhaps they hoped for a future in which a new generation would say, "There were things like this back then." These advances are not possible with today's science, but how about 5,000 years from now?
