When I saw the images of the Kobe earthquake, I personally experienced this tragic event. "I want to participate in some part of this dramatic story." I thought that I would like to go to Japan to visit this city, meet the people, and work in the devastated region. A photograph records a message via light. What I want to communicate through this program is the existence of light, and the optimism that is born anew from the midst of ruins. The unlimited potential with which humans are endowed is depicted in the images, in the photographs, in the light. Georges Rousse 000  |

Creative Process | |

He was assisted by many volunteers during this project. After hearing an explanation of the concept of the work, they began drawing and painting. It was a new departure for Rousse. |
| In recent work, he uses a dynamic method involving cutting hair and bringing out the depths of the space. Although a bit perplexed by this method which differs from his normal works, a space which satisfies Rousse is created. |  |

With it fixed firmly in place, it was impossible to move the camera from the beginning to the end of the creative process. He constantly checked the drawing to make sure it was disordered. |
| The painting work, which is the biggest part of the creative process, is extremely difficult. In order to create a uniform painted surface, it is painted over and over many times. |  |

He took the pictures surprisingly quietly and calmly, compared with the creative work. The exposed film was taken to the photo lab immediately so that Rousse could check it himself the same day. |
