Yamamba is a gray-haired old woman who lives deep in the mountains where people seldom enter, or a ghastly apparition of a young beautiful woman carrying her child with her.
Once people see the old Yamamba rushing with her hair disheveled and flying in all directions, they can never forget her dreadful look and always have bad luck later.
On the other hand, the young Yamamba has a beautiful white skin and black hair, and appears in front of men dressed in rags or undressed.
However, she is said to catch and eat children with her sharp eyes and big mouth torn to ears.

Nure-Onna
Nure-Onna is a ghastly apparition living in the Shinano River.
She is approx.
200 meters tall with a human face and the body of a snake.
She lives on the lifeblood of people visiting the river.
Once targetted, they can never escape from her.
Nure-Onna looks so beautiful that they cannot miss her.
Then, she opens her mouth wide with her deep red tongue rolling and twines around him with her whole body and sucks out the blood of her victim.
The victim is reduced to a skeleton and disappears into the bottom of the deep water.
They say that Nure-Onna inhabits not only in the river but also, in the lake and the sea.
