• Netedit 7.x •
• Specificities •
• The look •
The look isn't very different than the old 16-bit versions one. The graphics style has been kept.
So, the user isn't disoriented: he (she) founds the same menus, dialog-boxes, project tree frame and so on...
The tool-bar only is very different: please, go to the "Toolbar" topic.

It supports:
HTML 4.0 text encoding.
Good pictures and colors diplay (JPG, GIF, PNG, BMP).
M-S Internet Explorer® sound markers.
Large display: the full-screen about.
Many attributes, like <HSPACE> <MARQUEE> etc. .

The built-in HTML viewer is the default setting.
To choose another viewer, press the Options
button, then click on the HTML viewer tab
to get the choice-box.

It's set in the "Edit" menu. Keyboard shortcut: CTRL+F11.

• Change the language •
With the 7.x versions, you can change the language for the whole of the software.
To do that, press the "Options"
button at the right-end of the customizable tool-bar: you get the default Options window
Press the "Language" tab: you get the dialog-box below:

There are three fields on this box:
- The main window, with *.mn1 file-type,
- The current file, with *.mn2 file-type,
- The dialog-boxes, with *.dlg file-type.
To change the language:
- Press the first "Browse..." button, you get a special choice-box:

- Open the "Langue" sub-directory,
- Select the appropriate .mn1 file.
- Click "Open".
- Repeat these operations for the other fields -.mn2 and .dlg files-,
- When it's ended, press "OK" on the "Option /Language" box,
- Close Netedit and restart it to apply these new language parameters.
Notice: the "Language" files are "text" format files.
Hence, it's easy to edit and translate them!
Users can translate into their native languages, at least the European languages using the ASCII characters:
Make a backup copy for the files to translate... It's useful to make a <Save> sub-dir. to keep these backups.
In any language file, each row is built like:
xyz$Text1|Text2
Text1 is the info-text displayed when the mouse-cursor runs over a button,
Text2 is optional, it's displayed on the lower status-bar; it can be different.
Don't change the xyz$ number!
Keep the bar | between "Text1" and "Text2".
Titles / Comments / Partition rows must begin like: //Text...
Empty rows are prohibited!
The "&" character enables the next character as the keyboard-shortcut for this command. Please, take care to have a different character for each command-row in the same menu or sub-menu!
Actually, French, English and Italian language-files are released only.
If you want for translate into a new missing language, f.i.: Spanish, you may create a <Spanish> sub-dir., to place the "spanish.*" translated language-files.
If you wrote a translation, please send it
to the author as a ZIP file.
This work shall be very appreciated always! Thanks!

• Important features •
- The long files-names are supported, as the Windows 9x / NTx® style. Hence, you can use the "HTML" extension for your files!
- The file size isn't limited! So, you can create a single big file instead several smaller ones. For instance, it's useful to write a Course or an Help file like this, using fast hypertext links with the markers: the link target: text, picture which is the target to reach from an usual file link like:
the link command: text, picture
For a link to a topic in another file:
the link command: text, picture
This kind of link is always faster than another linked file, because there is none additional file to load.
- When you press the
preview button to get a preview, the file is automatically saved!
