Transferring a File

To transfer files or directories, specify the transfer source on your PC and transfer destination on the server.

Contact your Internet service provider or WWW server administrator for the WWW server address, login ID, password, and transfer directory (location where you store your Web page files).
  1. Change to the directory on your PC containing transfer files (on the left side).

To change the drive, select a new drive from the drive name box. To proceed to the desired directory, double-click on the icon (for the upper directory) or the icon (for the lower directory) in the list display area.

  2. Change to the directory on the server to transfer the files (on the right side).

  3. Select a file on your PC (left side), and click on the icon.

To select multiple files, press and hold the Ctrl key and click on the files. You can also select all the files and directories in the directory by clicking the right mouse button on the list display area and select [Select All] from the shortcut menu.

(Selected files and directories are transferred to the server.)

To download files on the server to your PC, select the files on the server (right side) and click on the icon.

If your PC and the server share the same directory structure, click on the icon when the same directories are shown on the left and right. And then if you proceed to a directory on one side (your PC or server), the other side also displays the same directory. For example, when both the PC and server sides have a directory called public_html, if you double-click on the directory on the PC side and change to public_html, the server side also changes to public_html.

When the button is pressed down, the file transfer mode (text or binary) is determined automatically depending on the types of individual files (as indicated by extensions). You can also click on the button or the button to explicitly specify the transfer mode. To modify or add file types that can be used to automatically determine the transfer mode, click on [Options] to display the "Options" dialog and click on the [Auto Mode Option] tab.

After transferring files to the server, you can modify access permission for the files (such as CGI programs that require special access permission) by clicking right mouse button on the server side. When the shortcut menu appears, select [Change Permission] to display the "Change Permission" dialog, where changes can be made. Note that some Internet service providers may not allow any changes about access permission.

To locate all the files which need to be transferred, click the right mouse button on the list display area on the PC side and select the following items from the shortcut menu that appears. The contents of the list display are changed accordingly.
[List Files Not on Server]
Displays files contained in the current PC directory but do not exist in the current server directory.
[List Updated Files]
Displays files updated more recently than the same name files on the server.
If you select [Refresh] from the shortcut menu, all files are displayed. You can perform opposite operations on the list display area of the server. (You can display the files exist only in remote, and display the files newer than local.)
