Installation and Getting
Started
Installing from a PCThe following installation instructions are derived from the 3Com Handbook for the Palm V™ organizer, "Chapter 3: Installing and Removing Applications", page 42. If you are using other versions of the PalmPilot, refer to your 3Com PalmPilot Handbook for step-by-step instructions. If you are using other installation utilities, please refer to those utilities' instructions to install WordComplete.
- Locate the WordComplete PRC file and double click on it. The Palm Install Tool should open. If the Palm Install Tool did not open, click on the Windows Start button. Select Programs, Palm Desktop, and Palm Install Tool.
- Select the user name that corresponds to your Palm organizer in the user drop down list.
- If the Palm Install Tool opened when you double-clicked on the WordComplete PRC file, you should have the WordComplete PRC file listed under File Name. If the PRC file is not listed, either
- Drag-and-drop the WordComplete PRC file into the Install Tool File Name list. Or,
- Click the ADD button to open the Open dialog. Locate and select the WordComplete PRC file. Click the OPEN button to return to the Install Tool dialog.
- Perform a local HotSyncŪ operation to install WordComplete.
Installing from a MacThe following installation instructions are for users running 3Com's MacPac v.2. If you are using other versions of the MacPac, refer to your 3Com PalmPilot Handbook for step-by-step instructions. Can I keep the words I've added to the Custom dictionary with the trial version when I purchase the full version?
- Locate the PRC file for WordComplete on your Mac.
- Double-click the HotSyncŪ Manager icon in the Palm folder.
- Choose Install from the HotSync menu.
- Drag WordComplete PRC file to the Install Palm Applications dialog box.
- Perform a HotSync operation to transfer WordComplete to your handheld.
Yes. Words you've added is stored in a file called CICUserDict on your Palm organizer. If you remove the WordComplete file, WordComp, from your Palm organizer, this file is not removed with it.How do I enable WordComplete after installing?
How do I uninstall WordComplete?First, disable WordComplete by tapping on the WordComplete icon. Uncheck the box "Enable Word Complete.

- Select WordComplete
- Tap Delete

What is the custom dictionary?The custom dictionary allows you to add words to the default dictionary. Added words will appear at the top or as the first choice the next time you write them.
How do I add words to the custom dictionary?There are two methods to add words to the custom dictionary.
Method 1:Double tap on the word that you would like to add. A pop-up list will ask whether you wish to add the word to the custom dictionary or skip. Select Add and the word will be automatically added to the dictionary.
Method 2:- Tap on the Applications icon
- Select WordComplete
- Select Custom Dictionary
- Enter new Word
- Tap on Add button
(Note: Words that you add to the custom dictionary have higher priority and are displayed as first choices. You may add words that are in the default dictionary to the custom dictionary so that they appear as first choices.)
Can I add a list of words to the Custom Dictionary instead of adding one word at a time?No. You can only add one word at a time.Can I remove words from the WordComplete dictionary?No. Words cannot be removed from the WordComplete dictionary. However, you can remove words that you've added to the Custom dictionary.Does WordComplete support international dictionaries?No. WordComplete only supports English words. You can add your own words to the Custom dictionary.
How many letters must I write before WordComplete offers suggested words?You can set WordComplete to suggest words after writing one to four letters. You can set this option in the WordComplete settings.
How many words will WordComplete display for me to select from?You can set WordComplete to display one to five words in the pop-up word list. You can set this option in the WordComplete settings.
Can a space be automatically inserted after I select a word from the WordComplete list?Yes. You can set this option in the WordComplete settings.
Can I display words I commonly write to be one of the first choices?Yes. Just add your commonly used words to the Custom Dictionary, even if it's already in the Default Dictionary.When does WordComplete suggest a new word instead of continuing with the previous word?Will WordComplete recognize a word if I precede it with a punctuation (i.e. "/")?
- WordComplete suggests a new word if you insert a space. Backspacing over this space will not continue with the previous word.
- Tap your cursor away from the word you are writing. Tapping back will not continue with the previous word.
