Daemon Settings service

Use this service to:

To change connection port:

Type the new port number in the Connection Port box. By default, this value is 777. If you change the port, the new value takes effect the next time you start the machine.

To change the connection password:

Select the Change Password check box and type the new password in the New Password and Confirmation boxes.

To enable service request logging to the Jconfig console:

Select the Log Requests to Console check box. Log items display only if the trace file specified in the section called Log Requests to File is the same as the Administration Log specified in Jconfig Options.

To show or hide the Jconfig Daemon window on startup:

In the Jconfig Daemon window section, select the desired option:

Apply changes--Updates the administration host. All changes are effective immediately except the Connection Port value. This change takes effect the next time you restart the daemon.


Workstation Database service

Use this service to store host names along with their associated passwords. This database is also used to assign hosts to groups for configuration purposes. You can use the Workstation database service with the scripting function of Jconfig and apply scripts to selected groups of hosts.

You can add, modify and delete entries in the host database. You can also change passwords for entire groups of hosts with the Password Wizard.

Information appears in three columns:

Workstation Database toolbar

Save--Saves changes to the database.
Add--Adds a host to the database.
Edit--Modifies the values for the selected host.
Delete--Removes the selected host from the database.

Find--Searches for a host in the database (host names are not case sensitive).

Refresh--Restores values saved in the Workstation Database file.

Password wizard--Changes passwords on hosts.
