Q : Assistant fails, can’t produce the video image
A : Check your graphic board configuration (try 800x600, 65000 colours). Check your graphic board compatibility with DirectX.
Install the PPE tool to improve the PCI performance of your PC.
Check that PCTV is not sharing IRQ
with an other device.
Q : I do not get audio with
PCTV
A :
First make sure that the audio out from
the PCTV is connected to the line in on your sound card.
Next, make sure that your Windows mixer settings are set correctly. You can check for this by double-clicking on the speaker icon next to the clock in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Make sure all the appropriate levels are set about 3/4 the way to the top. You can also click on Options - Properties - Recording and then set these levels the same.
You may have to recapture your video.
Q: No overlay for full screen
viewing
A: Right-click on the PCTV Vision screen
and go to Settings. Make sure that overlay
is selected and then click on OK. Re-check the setting again to make sure that
overlay is still selected.
If it is not selected or you still do not receive full screen viewing, then
overlay is not supported by
your graphics card. You can also try downloading the latest drivers for your
graphics card or install another DirectX compatible graphics card.
To set your colour depth (palette)
NOTE: On some systems there is no option for 16 bits so select either High Colour or 65000 colours. These are just three ways to represent the same colour selection.
Also, set your frame size to 800x600 in the same area where colour depth adjustments are made.
Q : What resources does Studio PCTV require?
A : The Studio PCTV only requires one interrupt (IRQ)
and a memory range. It does NOT use an I/O address or a DMA
channel. The IRQ will be assigned by your
computer's BIOS upon installing the card and restarting of your machine. While
we recommend using IRQ 10 or 11 for the
Studio PCTV, we do so because these IRQ's
have the best chance in most computers of being available.
Q : Of all the applications that come with the different PCTV packages, which applications will work under which operating systems?
Windows 9X: PCTV Vision, Studio PCTV and PCTV Radio (Radio only works with PCTV USB and PRO)
Windows ME: PCTV Vision and Studio PCTV and Radio
Windows 2k: PCTV Vision will work for both PCI and USB
The Radio app will also work under Windows 2000, for the PCTV PRO only. Warning, The Radio app is not supported in all countries.
Windows NT: PCTV Vision will work for the PCI and PCI PRO. The Radio app
will also work under Windows NT, for the PCTV PRO only.
Q : What software do I use
for video conferencing?
A : The PCTV comes with the Microsoft
NetMeeting software. There are other third party applications that do video
conferencing and support the PCTV devices.
Pinnacle systems does not support these applications. It is the responsibility of the manufacturer to support their video conferencing application with our hardware. This includes the NetMeeting software.
You can access help with the Microsoft NetMeeting software from their support website:

Q : What chipset is on the
Studio PCTV?
A : The Studio PCTV PCI and PCI PRO
use the BT 848 and BT 878 chipsets.
All new manufactured PCTV units will come with the BT 878 chipset.
Both the 848 and 878 chips perform the same functions and have no functionality differences.
The most accurate way to determine what chip your PCTV has is to look at the largest chip on the board, it will be labelled as to what exactly it is.
The PCTV USB uses a chip from Nogatech.
Note: Pinnacle does not support the development of or the use of 3rd party applications. For help with a 3rd party application, you'll need to contact its manufacturer.
Q : How do I create a Video
CD?
A : Once you have captured some video
and edited your project in the Studio software you can move to the "Make" mode.
You can output the video data as an MPEG file. If you click on the "settings"
button you will be able to select the option of "Video CD". You can then
output your video to an MPEG file. Once the MPEG is created, you can import
the MPEG file into the CD burning software of your choice.
Q. Studio won’t let me capture, I have Studio PCTV RAVE
A. Correct, this is a demo version of the software, capture instead in Vision.
If you want to use Studio you will need the Full Studio PCTV CD.
Q. Some files are not found while installing from Studio PCTV USB v1.02 CD.
A. With the v1.02 version, when it can’t find a file, insert the windows CD
ROM and point the installation to this.
Q. No picture in Vision or Grey/Pink/Green screen
A : Try 16/24 bit colour, 800*600 resolution settings for your graphics card.
Also try to right click on the Vision program window, and select Settings.
Go to the Video tab, and tick the option "Force Primary"
Q. I cannot find Webtext after installing PCTV.
A : Check in START > SETTINGS > CONTROL PANEL > REGIONAL SETTINGS - that you have the correct country listed here. For example, if it says USA, and you are living in Europe, then Webtext will not be installed, due to the fact that the USA does not have the Teletext service. Correct the country code here, Reboot, and then uninstall / reinstall the PCTV software.
