Marvin's Room

A story about the years that keep us apart... And the moments that bring us together. Open your heart. There's room.

USA December 25, 1996

Synopsis: Years ago, Lee (Meryl Streep) left home to pursue a romance while her older sister Bessie (Diane Keaton) made the decision to go to their home in Florida to look after their bedridden father Marvin (Hume Cronyn) and child-like Aunt Ruth (Gwen Verdon). After an examination by the comically confused Dr. Wally (Robert De Niro), Bessie must confront the fact that she has developed leukemia, and the family care-giver now needs care herself. Reluctantly, Lee decides to take her troubled son Hank (Leonardo DiCaprio) and his younger brother Charlie (Hal Scardino) from their home in Ohio to Florida for her first visit to her family in 17 years. Relations are still as strained as they always were, and even a seemingly harmless family outing at Disney World gets off to a rocky start. Marvin's Room is alternately touching and funny as this dysfunctional family takes a journey of self- discovery and reconciliation and learns to reach out to one another. source Language: English Produced by: Miramax Directed by Jerry Zaks Cast (in alphabetical order) John Callahan Hume Cronyn ....
