Connection Preferences give you information about your bandwidth, statistics, and network timeout.
Field |
Description |
|
Bandwidth | RealPlayer automatically selects which content can be delivered in real time
over your connection. The Normal bandwidth setting will be automatically determined by the answers you give during
installation. If this setting is too high, you will experience poor playback and extended buffering as RealPlayer
attempts to play clips intended for higher (faster) bandwidths. (For example, if you have a 28.8 KBPS modem,
but routinely connect at only 20 KBPS, you should probably set this to 19.6 KBPS.)
The Maximum bandwidth setting gives RealPlayer the upper limit to which it should "upshift"
through SureStream. (Default is set during installation) |
|
Buffered play | Gives you some control over the buffering capability prior to playback.
(Default is Entire Clip) |
|
Network time-out | Click Network Time-Out Settings to determine or modify how long RealPlayer will either try a particular transport protocol or try to connect to a server. When this time is exceeded, your Player will tell you it cannot connect or
that it has lost its connection. (Default is 20 sec for Connection time-out and 90 sec for Server time-out) |
