HOW TO OPTIMIZE PRINTING--About Optimizing Printing
To obtain the highest speed while retaining print quality when printing from Windows 95:
- Print directly to the printer, rather than spooling the print job.
To print directly to the printer under Windows 95:
Open My Computer on the Windows 95 desktop.
Open Printers.
Using the right mouse button, click on the printer you want to print to. A pop-up menu is displayed.
Choose Properties from the pop-up menu. The property sheet of the printer is displayed.
Click the Details tab, then the Spool Settings button. The Spool Settings box is displayed.
Click Print directly to the printer and click OK.
On the Details tab, click the Port Settings button.
Uncheck Spool MS-DOS Print Jobs and click OK.
Note: Some programs work better when you spool the print job, rather than printing directly to the printer. However, Design Essentials works better printing directly to the printer.
Note: For extremely high quality printing, set the resolution to 720x720. Note, however, that this increases the amount of time it takes to print a design.
- If you are printing to a Canon BJC-610, you must manually adjust some settings to ensure optimum quality printing. All other Canon BJC printers are automatically set up correctly.
In the BJC-610 properties sheet, click the Graphics and Color tab.
Set the color mode to Manually Set Color. The Manual Color Settings box is displayed.
Check the Disable Color Matching checkbox and press OK, then set halftoning to Smooth.
Click the Quality tab.
Set your printer resolution to 360x360, the media choice to Plain Paper, and print quality to High Quality Graphics.
Click OK.
Your printer is now set to print at the optimum print speed and to provide the highest-quality Design Essentials results.
