Creating Contacts
To create a contact, either:
- Click the new contact button on the toolbar.
- Click Contact -> New Contact.
- Right click on a "To:" or "Cc:" address in a mail
window and click "Add to Contacts".
You can add multiple email addresses to the contact. One of which will be the
default used when addressing. This address is highlighted in bold. When entering
an address press enter to insert it into the list, clicking away from the entry
box or pressing ESC cancels the change/insert.
If you are using a plugin that can associate with Contacts, it will appear in
the plugins tab. When a plugin is associated with a Contact it will only work
on email addressed to or from that Contact. Click the checkbox in the plugin
list to associate.
The custom fields can contain whatever you want. They can be addressed using the
Scribe DOM, so you can use
the custom fields in filters and other places that accept DOM fields.
Using Groups of Contacts
You can group contacts into groups by creating sub-folders of
contacts under the /Contacts folder in the main window. Then add
the contacts to that folder to form the group you had in mind. Then
to send an email to that group right click on the folder and select
"Email <FolderName>". A new email with all the contacts in the folder
as recipients will be created.
Note: This feature isn't complete.
Addressing Email
When adding addresses to a new email Scribe can search all the
contacts in the normal /Contacts folder and any sub folders of
contacts under /Contacts. If a match for a name or email is found
then the reipient address entry has a little contact card icon.
If the address is not in the database a "To:", "Cc:" or "Bcc:" icon
is shown. If Scribe cannot uniquely identify which contact you
meant a red question mark is shown next to the recipient. To resolve
the name conflict right click on the entry and select which name
you meant.
