Airfoil 4 is a major update, and we want to make sure you know about the most important changes, even if you've used older versions of Airfoil. Read this page to learn more!
With the new version of Airfoil Speakers, you can control some sources being transmitted by Airfoil, remotely! Supported sources include iTunes, Pulsar, QuickTime Player, and more. You can also reverse connect - from a remote copy of Airfoil Speakers, you can tell Airfoil to start sending audio, instead of walking back to the machine running Airfoil.
Airfoil Speakers now shows metadata like album art and track titles from supported sources as well! Learn more about Airfoil Speakers on the Using Airfoil Speakers page.
In version 3, we unveiled Airfoil Video Player, to make it possible to watch video on your Mac while hearing the audio from it remotely. Now, in version 4, we've added the ability to watch web video from sites like Hulu and Netflix! Read more on the Using Airfoil Video Player page or just select Airfoil Video Player from the Source menu to check it out.
When we first made Airfoil, it worked solely with the AirPort Express. With version 4, you can send to many more devices:
AirPort Express units - Both 802.11g and 802.11n
Apple TV units - Both version 1 (silver) and version 2 (black)
iOS devices - iPhones, iPods Touch, and iPads, running Airfoil Speakers Touch
Other Macs, Windows, and Linux machines, running Airfoil Speakers
With support for so many devices, Airfoil is great for sending audio all around your house.
With one update, we've improved the interface of Airfoil, Airfoil Speakers, and Airfoil Video Player! They're all now both prettier and easier to use!
