Navigating iSpeak It

The iSpeak It window provides buttons for loading files, download news, weather, driving directions and web feeds, and initiating a transfer to iTunes. You can click on the button to open a panel for making selections.

All of the iSpeak It panels have similar layouts. You have the ability to enter settings/selections for downloading information or transferring documents to iTunes. Each panel has Download, Cancel and Save buttons. Cancel is used to exit the panel without applying any changes while OK saves any changes made and initiates the required action (e.g. downloading a web feed). The Save button is used to save changes without initiating a download.

There are also a number of operations available via the menus. Holding down the option key (in addition to the regular key combination) allows you to intiate automatic processing of iTunes transfers, news, weather and web feeds with the current defaults (iSpeak It remembers your previous entries so you can select your settings once and not worry about them in the future). For iTunes transfers you can hold down the control key to automatically transfer all open documents. You can also hold down the control key to intiate the download of all web feeds.

The iSpeak It menu gives you the ability to manipulate application preferences (for automation control), your Mac's Speech preferences, send feedback on problems of things you'd like to see, purchase iSpeak It, and register your application with a product key.

The File menu gives you the ability to save a document as an AIFF file, start and stop the speaking of all or a portion of a document, and intiate an iTunes transfer.

The Edit menu gives you the ability to perform all standard text process operations as well as define replacement rules and apply the replacement rules to a document.

The Load menu gives you another means of loading files, web feeds, news, and weather.

The Help menu gives you access to this help and links to the ZappTek website for accessing the iSpeak It web feeds.

You can cancel the transferring of a document into iTunes at any time during the conversion process. When you see the conversion progress indicator in the bottom left corner of the iSpeak It document window you can press command-. or the escape key to terminate the conversion.
