Using the palette golive
allows you to insert forms like text and password fields, submit, reset and radio buttons, checkboxes, text areas as well as item lists and popups into your page. To insert a form, drag its icon from the Palette onto your page. Double clicking the icon opens a dialog box in which you can make further specifications.
This form offers one line where the user can make text entries. It is used for entries like names, addresses etc. The "Name" entry within the dialog box defines the name of the form which will be transferred to the server and is not visible to the user. The number of visible characters defines the text field width. The "Typable Characters" field specifies how many characters the user is allowed to type. You can decide whether your text field will be displayed blank, or with text in it.
Password Fields are handled like Text Fields. The only differences are that text entries are displayed as points and that there is no text defined to appear in it.
The Submit Button always starts transmission to the server of the entries which have been made. Within the label field you can define the text which will appear on the button.
The Reset Button reloads the basic settings of your forms. There will be no transmission to the server. Within the "Label" field you can define the text to appear on the button.
As radio buttons within one group exclude one other, you must define different groups from which one group can always be selected. Within the "Value" field you can define the value which will be transferred to the server. Note that group and value are not visible to the user and that you have to type your corresponding text directly into your document. To define which radio button will appear selected, use the popup at the bottom of the dialog.
Within the dialog you can define names and values for your checkboxes which will be transferred to the server and which are not visible to the user. Mark the "State" as "Is Checked" for checkboxes which should appear checked. Checkboxes do not exclude each other, so you can define more than one as checked.
This form defines a scrollable text area for messages, etc. Within the dialog you can define a name which will be transferred to the server and which is not visible to the user. Define height and width of the text area by making entries into the "Rows" and "Columns" fields. You can also define text which will appear in the text area as basic setting.
Using the dialog you can add, update or remove entries within the Item List. By clicking on an item you can define its name and value using the fields at the bottom of the list. After having changed name or value, press either "Add" or "Update". Please note that the values are for transmission to the server and are not visible to the user. Don't forget that the values within one item list have to be different. If you make a cross in the field at the bottom of the list, this item will appear selected. By choosing "Allow Multiple Selection" you can define more than one item to appear selected. Define the height of your list by specifying the number of visible items.
Using the dialog you can add, update or remove entries within the popup. By clicking on an item you can define its name and value using the fields at the bottom of the list. After having changed name or value, press either "Add" or "Update". Please note that the values are for transmission to the server and are not visible to the user. Don't forget that the values within one popup have to be different. If you make a cross in the field at the bottom of the list, this item will appear selected.
