Welcome to SIMS info at the AutoShare site

SIMS (Stalker Internet Mail Server) is a Mac-based SMTP and POP3 mail server.

Using AutoShare with SIMS

SIMS 1.5 and AutoShare 1.4 (or later) are needed.

The following configuration is for setting up a sample list server list named Fun-L. If you would like to set up an auto-response, no configuration is needed for the List Server folder, plus the Filed Mail folder configuration applies to the auto-response name rather than a list name.

As SIMS currently doesn't allow you to specify absolute folder paths for Folder Type accounts and Distribution Mirror accounts, my recommendation is that you apply Finder aliases to make it work (a logical, yet somewhat elaborate solution). If you have a better suggestion, please drop me a mail!

The Filed Mail folder

Create a Finder alias to the AutoShare Filed Mail folder, move the alias file to the Accounts folder inside the SIMS Folder and rename it to Fun-L (this will work as a Save as files account in EIMS).

The Incoming Mail folder

Specify the AutoShare Incoming Mail folder as a path to the SIMS Submitted folder (Incoming Mail folder in EIMS).

The List Server folder

Create a subscriber list file named Fun-L in the AutoShare List Server folder. In SIMS, create two accounts named Fun-L.m and Fun-L.d and enable the Mirror Mail To Distribution List option for both. In Finder, move the Fun-L.m@L and Fun-L.d@L files (not the Fun-L.m and Fun-L.d files!) from the SIMS Accounts folder into the AutoShare List Server folder and rename them Fun-L.m and Fun-L.d. Create Finder aliases for the two files, move the alias files into the SIMS Accounts folder and rename them to Fun-L.m@L and Fun-L.d@L.

Note: do not delete the Fun-L.m and Fun-L.d files in the AutoShare List Server folder, as aliases inside the SIMS Accounts folder point to them. When creating new .m (message) and .d (digest) lists, AutoShare overwrites their data forks.
