{unit.milliseconds}.
How long before a Linkclue icon disappears after you move the mouse away from the link.
Whether Linkclue icons fade away after the mouse has left them or just disappear immediately.
This graphical effect can hinder browser performance on machines with older graphics cards.

Use 10x10 pixel icons for internal links.

Internal site links generally give less useful information than external links. These internal links are often placed close together in navigational blocks, and having Linkclue icons appear near them can become distracting. In an effort to keep Interclue user friendly, we give you some options for how to handle this situation.

Would you like to have to click on the tiny icons before the Clueviewer is shown?

NOTE: requires "Use tiny icons for internal site links" to be selected.

If placing the Linkclue icons next to a link would cover the next link, place them above the link rather then to the right (or below the link if it is at the top of the page).
Interclue is usually not very useful on small pop-up dialogs. It will remain disabled unless the window is larger then the following dimensions:

Amazon pages are very large, and particularly difficult to extract any real content from, but Amazon has an affiliate API which we can use to show you product previews. This requires an affiliate ID to work. We use the ID already in the page or, if there isn't one, our own for this.

{unit.words}
How much of the destination page's content you want to appear in each summary.
Enter "0" for all the content we can find.
Please note: enabling images may allow some advertising from the destination page to appear in the Clueviewer. If this becomes a problem, try installing AdBlockPlus or other similar ad blocking software.
{unit.pixels}
{unit.pixels}
Very small images do not normally add value to a summary. Any images that are too small will not be shown in the summary.
Select this option if you want to restrict images to just those coming from the link's destination (and those originating from the whitelist below).
Images from these sites will be allowed in summaries even if "Only show images from the same domain" is selected.
People use many different image hosting sites to host content images. Any images from the listed sites will be allowed in summaries.

Navigation Detection
When a page is viewed in the {interclueFuzzy, sprite} Linkclue Mode, navigation detection rules are used to determine whether a particular link is likely to be worth showing clues for. In general all external links, and all links to non-HTML pages will show linkclues, but for other links Interclue uses several tricks to figure out whether to show linkclue icons or not. You can tweak some of the detection rules here:
If a block has linked text, and the average number of words per link inside the block exceeds this number, then the block will not be considered a navigational block (This is to stop lists of articles from appearing as navigational links).
If a block has linked text, and at least this amount of the text is contained within links (linked text), then the block will be considered a navigational block.
A link can only be navigational if contained within a navigational block and the link contains less than this many words.
Should {linkscent} icons be applied to pagination (1 2 3 ...) links?
Performance Tweaks
When hovering over a link, should we request header content about the document to provide more information at minimal data cost (~1kB)?
When hovering over a link, should we retrieve the destination page ready to be summarised?
Secure files (https:) will not be fetched until requested.
milliseconds.
How long you need to hover over a link before we retrieve it, ready to summarise.
kB.
How much content should be retrieved on link hover to speed up the preview process.
Secure files (https:) will not be fetched until a clue is requested.
Whether HTML is parsed as soon as it is received (for faster summary display), or only when a summary is requested.
This CPU-intensive option can slow browser performance on older machines.
Whether favicons are fetched from external sites after page load.
The maximum number of favicons to fetch on page load (enter "-1" for all).
Whether to attempt to download a thumbnail image on link hover.
Whether Interclue should look for similar links above and below the link being Clueviewed and prefetch them
(It will wait two seconds between requests, and use the x-moz-prefetch HTTP header to alert sites that want to know if a page is being prefetched.)
Interclue caches http requests and the results of verious CPU-intesive operations. This increases the speed of generating a summary at the cost of a small amount of memory. On systems with fast CPUs and limited RAM, using a smaller cache may be more system friendly.
Safety
Interclue can check the links on a page to see if any point to a malicious URL.

Some sites use links containing query strings to cause actions to occur on their site
(eg a link "index.php?action=logout" will probably log the user out).
This goes against the HTTP 1.1 specification which states that GET requests SHOULD NOT have the significance of taking an action other than retrieval.

This option will warn you the first time you try to preview a link containing a query string on a given site.

Any URLs containing these words and having the same domain as the current page will not be fetched without your explicit permission.

Separate each word with a comma, space or newline.

The following words will always be considered action taking words:

Privacy
Use of the Interclue add-on is 100% anonymous. We collect no personally identifiable information and we do no tracking of what pages you see and click. As part of the daily update check, unidentifiable statistics about feature usage may be sent to our system, but this information will be used only in aggregate form to help us determine how much time Interclue is saving its users and which features are found most and least useful, to guide our development process.

Any URLs on this list will be considered "private", and no data about them (such as thumbnails, Delicious tagcloud or Digg count) will be requested from third-party sites.

Accepted values are protocols (e.g. "https:"), domains ("localhost") and IP address ranges ("192.168.*.*").
Each value should be on a separate line.
Use "*" (match any number of characters) and "?" (match any one character) as wildcards.

Updates
Display an update icon in the statusbar when a new version is available for download.
Pinned Mode
Switch to pinned mode with the link currently under the cursor.
If this option is enabled, the following keys will switch the link displayed in the Clueviewer while in pinned mode.

* Similar links allow you to view clues for the next link that looks the same as the current link. This is often more useful than just showing the next link, as many lists (search results, Digg lists, Delicious lists, etc..) may have several less important links after each result.

NOTE: The ClueViewer must be in pinned mode to use these.

Help us make the Internet more clueful!

The Interclue team is working hard to make the Internet more universally useful and usable. But currently, we're also running out of cash. We haven't put any distracting advertising into Interclue. We're engineers, not marketeers, and we want to build a product with integrity, one that delivers you the most possible value in the shortest possible time, without getting in your way or causing needless waste of your system resources. Unfortunately, we've been so focused on getting rid of every last flaw in this free add-on that we haven't got our subscriber services ready yet. If you're impressed with the value you're getting from Interclue already, we promise you'll get a whole lot more in the future if you'll help us by making a donation now.

In fact, any donations made now will come back to you with 100% interest - as a credit to your subscriber account once we've got those set up and running. That's right - if you'll help us make it happen, we'll pay you back double.

If you're not able to contribute with cash right now, that's ok. You can help us in other ways, by giving us feedback through the feedback/bug reporter and particularly by helping us spread the word. Interclue doesn't have a marketing budget, so it's up to you to help us give the gift of clue!

Yours gratefully, Seth, Karl and Nic.
