Coming from the "Read Only My Lips" department, Lockergnomie Troy McCraw stops would-be wallpaper vandals. "I work for a school system and the students are constantly using the 'Set as background' feature in Internet Explorer. This was a mess until we figured out how to lock it down. Find the file named 'Internet Explorer Wallpaper.bmp,' right-click on it, pull up its properties, then put a checkmark in the 'Read-only' box. The 'Access Denied' message will show up should anyone try to overwrite it now. We've even renamed the 'attrib' command on the lab computers, just in case someone tries a more obscure route." This works just as nicely in a home environment; use the Read-only attribute on files you don't want to change. That tactic may just save your skin.
