Microsoft didn't make it easy to customize icons in Windows. There are dozens of programs to help you do this, but I believe the one with the best interface (and most icon options) is ActivIcons (http://www.cursorarts.com/ca_ai.html). Change your Desktop icons, cursors, make icon text labels transparent, rebuild the icon cache, replace drive & folder icons, change shortcut symbols, and a little bit more. It's pretty much an all-in-one icon tweaking tool. And speaking of, IconShop was updated the other day. You should definitely download it (http://www.ping.be/liontech/).
