FUNCTION MENU

 1. Data comparison

Makes comparison or search in countries data.

In this example all countries were buddhism is a religion are displayed

Select a data from the data tree on the left and Amiglobe will either make the comparison if you select a numerical data, or allow you to search the data. Click on  to search the data (if the text string is empty, every data will be displayed). The  button will paint the countries according to their rank in the list.
You can also save the comparison on disk as a text file (click on ) , copy it on the clipboard (click on ), or print it (click on ). Because columns are separated with a tab, it is easy to paste them in a spreadsheet (example: Excel) or in a word processor (example: Word). This allows you to easily use these data in your own documents. The data generated by Amiglobe can be freely used, without royalty, for any purpose. Plus, there is no
need to give credit to Amiglobe.

 2. Create compound data

Create user-defined data composed of two existing data.

The compound data will be the result of the left data with the right data and the operator (+, -, X, or /). When you begin with Amiglobe, there is already one compound data: population density, which is population/total area. For example, let's say we want to add the "balance trade" data, which is the exports minus the imports. When we are ready, we click on Add and we have to choose a group for this new data.

We choose economy, and place the balance trade just after the exports and imports data, with the down button. This will make this data appear there in the info window. We can check this by clicking on the  button.
User-data are saved to disk. If you start Amiglobe directly from a CD-ROM, you cannot save these data to disk.
To remove an existing compound data, click on Remove in the Create compound data window

 3. Set/Remove source/target point

You can set two special point in Amiglobe: the source point and the target point.

When the source point is set, Amiglobe will show the shortest path between the source point and the mouse pointer, or to the destination point, if set. The length of this path is shown in the status bar.

 4. Show path

Toggle the draw of the shortest path between the source point and the mouse pointer/destination point.

5. Play Anthem

With this window you can see the lyrics of the national anthem of the currently selected country, and play it. Note that anthem lyrics are not available for all countries.

6. Add user defined city

You can add your own defined cities and/or mountains. The preferred method is to point the location on the map, right click and select "add a user-defined city", so that Amiglobe will fill the latitude and longitude for you. You then have to enter the name of the city or mountain, and its population or altitude, in the following window:

Here the author adds the city in which he lives.
Click OK and, depending on the population or altitude, Amiglobe will show your city/mountain.
