Log entry types

The log file can be access by selecting the Latest activity... option from the View menu, or by clicking on the Show activity log button on the toolbar. The log window looks like this (yours may vary):

The log is heirarchical, with entries for each backup item that has run at the base of the heirarchy. Each entry in the log records the activity that happened at the time the item was run. There are several main sections to each items log entry.

  1. General item details
  2. List of files that were scanned from the source locations
  3. List of files backed up by DataArmour
  4. List of deleted files
  5. Errors

You can easily spot problems in the log due to the icons at the left of the log entries.

Warning: Something failed.
The log will contain additional information regarding the cause of the error. A typical error would be the failure to cop y a file (either when performing a ZIP backup or a Direct copy) due to lack or priveledges.
Exclamation: Something unexpected occurred. This may or may not be fatal.
Additional information will be in the log. Example: A file could not be copied becuase it was open.
Information: Indicates a general, informative statement
Question: Indicates that this item has not yet been completed and is still running.
Its final state is unknown
Used when a file name or path is being reported on.
Specifies that the backup completed successfully.

You can close the log viewer either by clicking on the close button, or by using the X at the top right hand corner.  The Logfile buttons are described here.

Note: If you have a large log file, the it may take a few seconds for the log viewer to appear (this is because its takes a few moments for the log viewer to populate itself from the log file)
