Save Icons |
|
When saving icons from icon libraries (DLL,
EXE, ICL) you can define the color depth of the icon yourself. If you are not
sure what color depth to use, you could use the Zoom
function (Tools menu) to see what colors are used. If you are still not
sure, just choose ‘Hi-color’.
When saving animated icons (ANI), an option is available where you can save all the icons of the animated icon as separate icons. A number corresponding to the frame number is added automatically to the filename when saving the icons.
If you save a cursor, IconBook will ask you to define the hotspot of a cursor (i.e. the hotspot of the standard mouse pointer is the top of the arrow). A window pops up with the icon 10 times enlarged. Just click on the region which should act as the hotspot.
When saving as a bitmap (BMP) or JPEG (JPG), IconBook will replace the transparency color with the background color of the window part where the icon is displayed. If you have set a mask color in Options, General Tab, the transparency color is replaced by the defined mask color.
When saving as a CompuServe GIF file, the icon transparency will be retained and the GIF file will also be transparent. The GIF file format only supports 256 colors. If the icon is a high color icon IconBook will perform a optimization to reduce the colors to 256. The appearance of the saved file depends on the amount of unique colors in the source icon. Many colors may result in poor GIF file quality.
The 'All Icon Formats' section has a additional Save option called Save All Formats As. This option saves all icon formats of a selected icon in one ICO file.
