Crystal Waver in details
The Crystal Waver comes with the Full System. It can be used for playback and recording
audio in RIFF Wave format (.wav files). The current version only supports 44.1kHz/16 bits
uncompressed PCM wave audio files. Stereo files require two mono channels.
The Waver consists of a main window and a pre-recording window to record music from mic or line-in.
So you can record each track seperately and then mix the whole stuff together with Crystal Audio Engine.
Explanation:
-
Audio Controls: Use the audio controls to open/close, play/stop or pause audio files.
-
Info area: Displays waveform and filename. Click info to get detailed information about the loaded file in a
seperate dialog.
-
Loop control: Switch this on to loop the channel forever.
-
Syncronization: There you can set synchronization for each channel. Clicking play for
a synchronized channel will start all other synced channels, too.
When some synced channels are already running a next channel will remain waiting until anyone of them starts at the
beginning (has to be looped) and starts playback synchronous to the re-starting one.
-
Record Button: Click to show/hide the pre-recording window. This is a top-most window,
it will be closed automatically when the pre-recording for a channel is done.
-
Recording Controls: Click to start/stop recording from mic or line-in.
-
Output Filename: The Waver generates a random filename (in the userfiles-directory) for each pre-recording session.
Click to browse another specific output filename.
-
Realtime Scope: This is just a realtime scope.
What else may be important:
.cwi files: The Crystal Waver stores waveform images in files with the extension .cwi (about 1,3KB).
Recording Options: Click the pre-recording window with the right mouse button to display
a dialog where you can select soundcard, mono or stereo recording and launch the volume control.
Files from cd-rom: Reading files directly from cd-rom may cause an interrupted playback.
Try to set a bigger Disk Buffer Size in Audio System Setup.
