File Types

Cult3D uses six different file types—three standard and three Cult3D specific types:

Cult3D Types

Cult3D Designer file [*.c3d]—Editable Cult3D Object File

This is the file type generated by the Cult3D Exporter plugin from a 3D modeling/animation application to edit in Cult3D Designer.

Cult3D Player file [*.co]—Distributable Cult3D Object

This file type contains compressed play-only Cult3D objects that can safley be distributed. Files of this type can not be loaded into Cult3D Designer. They can only be viewed with a Cult3D Player.

Both the Cult3D Designer file [*.c3d] type and the Cult3D Player file [*.co] type can contain mesh, textures, materials, sounds, animations and interactivity data.

Cult3D Project file [*.c3p]

Files of this type contains the project settings for Cult3D Designer. These files contain locations of icons, connections, etc.

Standard Types

Sound files [*.wav]

Cult3D Designer can read *.wav files to import sound.

Even though the sound files are compressed to an average of about 50%, you should use caution when using long and "CD quality" (44.1KHz, 16bit stereo), since they can add substantially to the size of your presentation. One second of "CD quality" sample takes about 170Kb raw, and 80-90Kb after Cult3D compression.

MIDI Files [*.mid]

Cult3D Designer can read *.mid files to import MIDI data.

Compiled Java Class Files [*.class]

Cult3D Designer can add Java class files to the presentation.
